sometimes you open, say, a issue page and comments will not load due to some Chromeism, but you come up 2 day later and comments load just fine... but then something else breaks due to other Chromeism

Sompi: perhaps its because now that technology is broadly acceptable don't want the mass of dumbasses to reject their magic slabs of glass and come after them with muscles and bad attitudes

also conformity and devotion is often the only way to get ahead in most circles regardless

remember tech managers and ceos are largely dumbasses and if they did know tech when they started they almost certainly don't care enough to know any more than if it is profitable or not

Sompi: I'm not even sure some mindsets did change, I mean, I'm kind of finding myself in the same situation that there was in early 2000s: people using proprietary MS formats, IE-only sites, and a need to push for portable and interoperable approaches

now it's kind of the same problem, but I've not tried to do some analysis of the why

I just commented on BinOC how I am effectively where I started...

but it *is* annoying that some people that ought to be pushing for interoperable and accessible are doing the opposite

also, there was that glimpse of a worse future to come back then, when the push became "you need to use a standard format/protocol" and it was obvious to me that the bad players would just have their proprietarý ones standardized somehow

come Office Open XML and people being reportedly rejected from standardization meetings because of lack of chairs

In Finland schools still use .doc because open standards would be an ideological choice but using closed proprietary formats is neutral

Sompi: normal people don't even know what's a "file format", much less a "open standard"

and there is no interest into adding that as part of what kids learn in the education system

for many peoples a "file format" might be the same as "airplane parts"
