What was the fatality rate of covid-19?

I find it alarming if free software advocates and contributors support restrictions of civil rights because of some disease that is less lethal than the common flu...

I don't care what anyone thinks about this. At the beginning the mortality rate was way higher than the common flu espsecially for elder people. The restrictions were justified. Personal decision if you got vaccinated or not. I will never be the first in the line to test a new vaccine and at least the Moderna one did cause problems for some people and probably cost some lives. crying fould...

...because you needed wear a mask in public places and not meet wit a 100 people is idiotic. A virus doens't care about me, you, your pulitical view or all the other things you care about. It will infect you or not and then kill you or not depending on the type and you health and genomes.

for a lot of covid related deaths were more covid being the tipping point than alive today dead tomorrow type of deal but everyone's immune system life experience and enviromental conditions are different.. as for the vax tech.. maybe a global pandemic isn't the best time to beta test your new technology.. if work on a traditional weaken the virus and inject it vax was first and foremost and the new tech was a new option not the only option for some

time actually.. The pandemic scared people and new technology ALWAYS scares people especially when it is injected.. bad combo.. regardless of how safe and effective it may or may not be a crisis is NOT the time for untested solutions as the FIRST CHOICE.. may as well inject UV light and drink delicious bleach for how well people are gonna comply

also Sompi the fact is that covid by policy and individual action was more deadly than it should have otherwise been.. some of it is the poor state of health most of humanity otherwise is in.. some of it is ignorance some of it was also malicious intent..

the condtitions created by the virus also took lives

and those condtions DO affect and influence you and your politics

if another pandemic sprung up SLASH was let loose right now.. it would have ramifications for decades to come.. even if it on average was less deadly than covid-19

I know at least one case where an elderly woman had covid symptoms, the doctors were 99% sure that it was covid, they took the test samples and she died before the tests were completed

But the test results showed that she did not have covid

Many people feared covid so much that it made the symptoms worse, even in cases where they did not actually have covid at all...

both sides in the US benefited from scare tactics

hell the fucking Pale Moon Project benefited from covid scare tactics and gaps opened up by it..

as far as Covid goes tho I hope to live long enough to find out if the reason the republicans and trump are so on about covid being a chinese bioweapon is because they are the ones that commissioned its development. Yeah it is a conspiracy theory like all the rest.. but as far as I know.. it is uniquely mine.

Yep.. my latest milestone in conspiracy construction is.. Trump was involved in the creation and spread of COVID-19 but like everything it was simply outsourced to China. So simple and elegant it might even be true.. but will I get to know if it is or not LOL

Sompi: the fatality rate owing to SARS-CoV-2 has been underestimated in more than one way, either because some deaths will be pinned on other causes, either because testing wasn't so prevalent. Also, nowadays you can't realistically measure given that Tozinameran and the like were mainly to prevent extreme illness.

Sompi: I take issue at wanting to defend freedoms not to mask etc at the same time the freedom to health and the right to life are dismissed. One thing is one's freedom affecting the self, the other is when exercising freedoms will impact other people.
